| At the ripe old age of three, Kristen wandered into her dad's woodworking shop and was immediately hooked. With no shortage of "do-it-yourself" projects in the O'Malley household, she grew up helping her uber-handyman father, "Big Dave," refinish furniture and make home-repairs on weekends. This ensured Kristen could swing a hammer, wield a drill, and build a bookcase by the time she graduated high school.
Prior to starting her design career, Kristen worked in television directing new media projects for PBS, Discovery Channel, and BBC America. Outside of managing TV productions, she honed her interior decorating and painting skills at the Corcoran School of Art & Design and The Art League. In 2005, Kristen merged her passions for production and design working as a behind-the-scenes decorator for the HGTV series Kidspace and Get It Sold. She can also be seen on camera as a guest designer for the HGTV show Curb Appeal. Kristen currently resides in Los Angeles where she works as a set decorator and buyer for televsion, feature, commercial, and photo shoots. With hundreds of productions under her toolbelt, Kristen thrives on creative challenges whether it be decorating a set, buying props, or finding the perfect paint color. |
